Sick? What's that?

My boys are 5 & 7 years old, and very close to 6 & 8, yikes! I'm definitely not the most knowing mom, but I feel pretty confident in my momming abilities, and my know-how in situations that unexpectedly show up. Except one. Sick kids.

Just last year my 7 year old got a fever. The first fever he's had since he was a baby. And what did Mama do? Panic of course. Why does he have a fever? What is one to do for that? Then there was the time about 2 years ago my younger one kept puking. How do I stop that from happening again?!? It sounds ridiculous, I am well aware of that. But I have been unbelievably fortunate in having children that do not get sick. Ever. Am I jinxing myself just by writing this? My guess is hells yeah!

My bestie has kids that used to always be sick. Not sure if it was just crap luck or daycare germs. My younger one went to a daycare, and there could be kids vomiting all around him, and nada. My older one had swine flu run through the school last year and there was a TON of kids out. Not him. What amazing immune systems they have!

I'm pretty sure they are just carriers. I tend to get sick more than them, so my guess is they just bring Mama home the germs. My older one is home sick right now, and it breaks my heart to see such a rambunctious boy in a ball of mush. Maybe if they were sick more often I'd be less effected by it. Today I feel bad for him, but I'm happy to have him home, cuddled up me.

Well, I never thought I'd be saying this, but my little Christmas baby has rubbed off on me over the last few years. I find myself wanting to put out my decorations, hit play on my Elvis CD, and watch Rudolph. But strangely, I am getting resistance on the home front. What gives?? I know it's early, I'm well aware of the Halloween candy still sitting on the table. But with the weather changing(only slightly lol), I'm in holiday mode.  Perhaps it's because I don't have much to do during the day. Perhaps it's because I love the nights of sitting with hot chocolate and staring at the lights. But I'm pretty sure it's because of the family that I am blessed to have, with now four amazing children that I can't wait to spend the holidays with! It could be worse. I could still be living in the days of Alex listening to Christmas music year round and wanting the tree up in July :)

I've been driving for 19 years!

My dad has a habit of buying a new car every year(used to be every six months!) and I think I got that habit. I've tried to stretch it to every 2-3 years at this point in life, but I'm thinking if I get back into a comfy place in life money-wise, I'll be right back to it. Here's a look back at some of my cars.... My first car was a 1979 VW Rabbit in poo brown. My dad and I sanded it down and took it for a $99 Maaco paint job. I chose turquoise. Horrid. We called it the blue dot special after that. I loved that car. My next baby was a 1987 Mercury Lynx. I liked this car, had much more room than the VW. I had an accident on the way to school one morning(rear ended my friend's mom!) and my punishment was to pay off the damage repair. I came home from work one day and the car was gone, dad sold it. Apparently when you go to college you don't need a car. :/ My 1993 Geo Tracker, by far my favorite to that point, and my friends will all tell you it was fun

Facebook gets my thumbs up!

I know I'm not the only one here that is heard some of the terrible stories that come along with the demons of Facebook. Friendships are questioned, friendships end. Boys and girls fight, both young and old. People break up, people get divorced, and so on. I've heard Facebook is nothing but trouble, Facebook is the devil, I would never join Facebook. But how about the other side of Facebook? The amazing side of Facebook? Sure there's other social media, but nothing quite as far-reaching as Facebook. The friend you haven't seen in 20 years since high school or childhood. The long-lost family that hasn't heard from you in ages. The family that you miss far away, but you feel like you're always there celebrating with them for the special occasions because you get to hear about all of the different steps along the way, and see all the amazing photos. Sure I have to had my share of problems on Facebook, but have also had the privilege of mending relationships through
