Lyrical Saturday

I've always loved this song, but no matter where or when I hear it I either get teary or full out sob. It's been remade a few times, but the original is still my favorite. I thought of it the other day, when my dad suddenly wound up in the hospital(he's ok now!), just a week after my mom had major surgery. You don't realize sometimes how quickly life can change, especially with your parents, and how that landslide can happen when you least expect it. One small happening can bring on a life full of change, be it for better or worse. I'm sure being cooped up in the house after all this snow isn't helping my somber mood, but I guess it makes for some good life reflection time. Namaste.

Landslide by Stevie Nicks
I took my love, I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
Till the landslide brought me down

Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?

Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?

Mmm, mmm, mmm

Well, I've been afraid of changing
Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older and I'm getting older too

Well, I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older and I'm getting older too

Oh, I'm getting older too

Awh, take my love, take it down

Awh, climb a mountain and turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well, the landslide bring it down

And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills

Well, the landslide bring it down
Oh, the landslide bring it down

  1. I cry, too! It always makes me think of my dad, and I'm not sure why.

Glad both of your parents are doing well!!!

  2. Great song, the Dixie Chicks do a great rendition too! The weather also reminds me of this song! Hope things start looking up!
