Lyrical Saturday

I've always loved this song, but no matter where or when I hear it I either get teary or full out sob. It's been remade a few times, but the original is still my favorite. I thought of it the other day, when my dad suddenly wound up in the hospital(he's ok now!), just a week after my mom had major surgery. You don't realize sometimes how quickly life can change, especially with your parents, and how that landslide can happen when you least expect it. One small happening can bring on a life full of change, be it for better or worse. I'm sure being cooped up in the house after all this snow isn't helping my somber mood, but I guess it makes for some good life reflection time. Namaste. Landslide by Stevie Nicks I took my love, I took it down Climbed a mountain and I turned around And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills Till the landslide brought me down Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail thro

I need to know if I'm the only obsessed teacher around. Not even just teachers, anything in a related field. I get a little cooky about my stuff, so today I'm here to not only share my issue/problem, but to make sure it's not just me. Being a teacher, it's hard to walk that fine line of being a mom and being a teacher. It's hard to mix your 'teaching stuff' in with your own kid stuff, and sometimes honestly, I just don't want to share my stuff. It's clean, it's new, it's mine. And my book collection is still my biggest hang up. The boys love books, and they have a ton. But once in a while they ask for a new book at night, so I get the nerve up to look through my shelves. As I look, I have memories of using many of those books in class or in my own classroom, and I put the books back for my 'someday'. I usually wind up pulling a book for them to read with me, but promptly put it back on my shelf after tucking them in. If you're

A Must Have in My Life

I use it every day, many times a day. I use it when I wake up, when I'm out at the store, in the car, at school, on the phone, in the kitchen, before bed, and any other time I feel necessary. I've tried many different ones over the years, but have realized that the original is always the best. Maybe not the most effective, but my favorite nonetheless. So what is it you ask? What else would I have been talking about? Do you know that the ChapStick above has been around for 100 years? That logo is the original used. Use it for chapped lips, as sunscreen, or even as a moisturizer. There's a ton of flavors and choices on the market. But I will stick with the original, black labeled ChapStick. That distinct smell it has, the smooth feel as it's applied. I have a stick in every bag, every jacket. There are plenty of things I can do without on a daily basis, but ChapStick is not on that list.

Should I Bother?

I'm considering writing a book. It's something I've always wanted to do, and certainly have the time to do. There are two different, completely opposite books I'm tossing around in my head. One is a real-life helpful kinda guide. The other is a fictional-not-so-fictional story about life. Besides picking which one I'd like to start with, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. Do I just sit down and start writing? What do I do when I'm done? Obviously it does no good if only three friends read it. Do I bother wasting the time? What else do I really have to do with my time anyway? Just thought I'd toss those questions out. I know a few of you have written books, and I even recently saw a facebook friend that just published a book. Very cool. Now help me.....
