Guilty Pleasures

Image
I was reading some tweets the other day (I'm not the biggest Twitter fan, but I do look sometimes!) and he said something about his guilty pleasure tv show. That got me thinking, what are my guily pleasure tv shows? My husband will be the first to tell you I watch alot of 'stupid crap shows' that get cancelled after 2 or 3 episodes. But I do have a few tried and true ridiculous shows that gals my age would usually be embarrased to tell you they watch. I've decided to share my top 3, which was kind of hard to choose since I watch so many. In no particular order, my favorite guilty pleasure shows are: 1. The City Yes, we all watched Laguna Beach and then the Hills, but how many continued on to see Whitney do absolutely nothing in NYC? I did for sure. Her new friends were snotty and sucked, her new man was sneaky, and she never even took credit for a job well done. Pretty mundane, yet I always tune in. 2. 16 and Pregnant A recent find of mine on a boring Sunday afte

Clearance Alert! Clearance Alert!

Victoria's Secret is having their semi-annual sale right now. That means some pretty good prices on some pretty fun stuff! My choice for today is the best slippers I've ever owned, the Ugg Fluff Flip-Flops. Usually they are offered in all of these colors, but since they are on such sup er-sale, I think they are down to blue and pink right now. I got the pink ones for Mother's Day, and they are just as comfy as my boots, and so pretty to slip on when I wake up in the morning! So if you don't already have a pair, treat yourself while they're still available! You can find them here .

Which Paper?

My friends went through jobs in high school like, well, like it was there job. They would try a new one every few weeks, then move on because they had to work to much, didn't make enough money, didn't like working on weekends, bla bla bla . But I was fortunate enough to get a job in my sophomore year that I kept until I got married. Yup, you read that right, almost 10 years! Prestige Gifts & China was located on busy Central Ave. in Yonkers, NY. In the early/late 90s, if you were a bride in the tri- state area, you were traveling to Prestige for some goodies. I went in one day when my dad told me I MUST come home with a job, just figuring I'd drop off an application. The girls up front sent me right back to the little office where I talked to the boss, and he hired me on the spot. I started the next day. Duties of my job really revolved around making the customers happy. I helped them pick out their china, flatware, stemware, register for their big day, and prett

I'm not one for a lot of makeup. My dad never let me wear it growing up, and I just never felt the need. Eyeliner and mascara, a bit of lipgloss or chapstick , and I'm good to go. But that's not to say I don't buy a lot of makeup, because I do! I'm always curious to try the new, fun products, but always feel like a clown after application. But today I'm here to actually recommend a product pairing. With young children and not much sleep, these days I've had to add concealer to my daily regiment. A bit under the eyes and a swipe over the nose to be exact. So I went to CVS the other day to browse for a replacement for my broken compact. I found myself in front of the L'Oreal display because pre -kids that was my brand of choice(you know, when I had a life and went out for more than an hour alone!). They were having a sale on True Match products, buy one get one free. Can't go wrong for that kind of sale! I used their color match card attached

If you had to do it all over....

....what would you be when you grow up? Are you a mom that wishes she went to college to be an accountant? A therapist that should have been a teacher? Glad you chose your profession? Just curious. If I had to do it again, I'd probably still be a teacher, but also an architect, a welder(which I still plan to do), and advertising agent, and of course a backup singer.

Six Years and One Day

Today is my oldest son's birthday. He came in with a bang at almost midnight on the 4 th of July, 2003. I was in labor for 17 hours, pushing for almost 4 hours, and he finally decided to grace us with his presence. Six years and one day ago I was a completely different person than I am today. I was rude, impatient, judgemental, and in a nutshell and complete b! tc #. I don't sugarcoat it, I don't apologize for it. It's the past and can't be changed. But having children brought me the peace I think I was searching for my entire adult life. I am definitely a changed gal. I look back at some of the chaotic days of college and can't believe some of the things I did and said. Thankfully that's a lifetime ago, and those memories are fading. I always try to think of those times each year on this day to remind me of where I've been and where we are headed as a family. It's so great to have a 4th of July birthday.
